1978 Kenmore (Coldspot) 75940 "The Blotter" 40-Pint Dehumidifier | Initial Checkout
The initial checkout of a Kenmore branded, Coldspot manufactured, dehumidifier from 1978, model 75940 'The Blotter'.
This is a very unusual unit, I have never seen another one quite like it. The machine has a more horizontal form factor, similar to a casement style window air conditioner, as opposed to the more common vertical format.
The machine utilizes a reciprocating compressor and R-12 refrigerant. It is tagged as an 'automatic' unit because it has a humidistat for humidity-regulated operation as well as automatic shutoff when the bucket is full, but lacks automatic defrost. The automatic shutoff mechanism is very bizarre and will require further investigation to learn how it works.

Holmes HAOF613 2Cool Oscillating Fan | Initial Checkout
Просмотров 93718 часов назад
The initial checkout of a Holmes 2Cool 12" oscillating fan model HAOF613. This product is an excellent example of when marketing and gimmicks ruin what would otherwise be a completely satisfactory product. I used to feel that Holmes made a very good quality fan, if not a little better than the rest. As I've worked with more of Holmes' models and other brands' models, I've redacted that opinion....

Filthy Holmes HAWF2020N Twin Window Fan | Initial Checkout

The initial checkout of an absolutely filthy Holmes twin window fan model HAWF2020N. I believe this is a product of the late 90s. This one is high hours and was probably never cleaned, as was the case with most of these since they are nearly impossible for the average user to disassemble due to the poor design of the accordion panel's clips. Despite all the dust and lack of service, it's still ...
General Electric 50 and 90 Watt Double Life Halogen Bulbs
Просмотров 7174 часа назад
A set of 4 unusual General Electric branded halogen light bulbs, in both 90 and 50 watts form factor. The 90 watts bulb has an 'incandescent equivalence' to a 100 watts bulb, and the 50 watts bulb has an 'incandescent equivalents' of a 60 watts bulb. This is rather odd as it puts the efficiency of the 2 bulbs at completely different levels, as opposed to a linear relation like most other bulbs....

I was unaware of this and didn't have my camera with me at the time of discovery, so unfortunately there is no video of the actual scavenging. Here is a look at what was recovered from just a few streets. It's absolutely absurd how many working items in good, usable condition were discarded. The majority of this sh...

A Hampton Bay branded, Air Cool manufactured, 52" ceiling fan in polished brass model CMF-52. The model name was Windward. The unit was made in February of 1990. Hello, the model that I see in this video reminds me of a copy that I have operating, which is black and is from the Landia Home brand. When your copy started working, the sound emitted by the fan blades is very similar. the one I have and the truth is I was impressed because since it looked very similar, I have theories that they are brothers, even though they are different brands. Today I have let it operate too much, because we are experiencing heat waves Greetings from Mexico CDMX

Much better without the second blade set which was a hindrance to the air flow bro now that your using a one blade set its going work well this summer

Perhaps the second handle could be used should the fan be mounted on the wall. It is also convenient as it is easier to hold with two handles. This thing puts the ILG8F21 to shame. I picked one up today on marketplace and the bearings were as free as your fan's bearings are. A true testament to the SMC quality of the early 2000s. Edit: Forgot to mention that I found an 18" version new in the box on marketplace but I chose not to purchase it.

I was 'gifted' a LatitudeE6530 by my younger nephew. It's honestly not too bad of a machine. It's probably seen better days, so won't go too crazy on it. That keyboard, touch pad and point stick all feel well-integrated into the unit. I swear this thing's a tank. I may only have an IE 3rd-gen Intel processor on that with 8 gb of RAM but it will get done what I want/need it to. Innocent side note: I like that little whir sound the E6530 makes when you first power on. It gives me a brief impression that there's a hard drive in there, when in fact it is indeed an SSD. When I power on my newer Latitude5500, I just listen for a weird series of very quiet tone-ish sounds from the right speaker indicating the SSD just woke up.

The FSP is “factory specified parts” for whirlpool. I remember sears always had a working relationship with whirlpool from way back in the 1920s making appliances for them.

They were designed thick because of the capsule being pressurized and having the potential to explode so the thicker glass was to help contain a potential explosion. Those are from the late eighties early 90’s. My grandmother used them throughout her house because she liked the light output.

Nice and Interesting dehumider you have there. Certainly something you don’t see every day. The bucket full mechanism reminds me of an another interesting and rare dehumidifier that was made sometime back in the 70s that I have seen here on RUclips being the sears coldspot 30. I find it interesting that your having this weird thing with air conditioners and this dehumidifier taking some time to build up the head pressure. I wonder if it’s has to do with something with the oil for the compressor taking time to move through the system before it can begin pumping. It would not be surprising with how old the oil is in these older pieces of equipment may take a lot of time to move through and work its way lose before the system can begin working. I do agree with your assessment of the case with these modern peices of junk dehumidifiers that are sold today. They are absolutely abismal granted I have a newer unit that is in its second season and still working this year like it’s brand new but being reliable and having quality is certainly the issues with these things. With the more regulations that are passed for these things over time, the worse they will continue to get. But one thing seems to be for sure and that’s every unit regardless of age will have its pros and cons. Nice video as always and I look forward to the cleaning video of this unit along with any upcoming dehumidifier and air conditioner videos.

My Aunt used to have the 2cool fan, but it was the HAOF-612, and it definitely wasn’t the best quality fan and didn’t move all that much air. The balance also wasn’t that great. She got rid of it a long time ago (I think over 12 years ago) and replaced it with a 16 inch Lasko oscillating stand fan, which, of course had much better airflow and was much better balanced. It’s a shame that Holmes would make such a total gimmick out of something that may seem like a good idea, but then the performance of that product ends up being totally abysmal because of the idea not being executed properly.

  • @1998MonroeNYColonial
    @1998MonroeNYColonial 16 часов назад

This fan moving drastically more air with just the 5 wing blade is the same story with the other one that you already have. It’s the same situation with that black model you made videos of a while back. And despite the abysmal airflow with the second blade on there, it’s actually a decent fan considering how powerful it is with the single 5 winger. These are fairly similar to the HASF-1515 and HASF-1516 16” pedestal fans like the one I have in my collection. Sure, they are noisy but they are still fairly powerful and perfect for a hot summer for those who don’t mind the extra noise. I’d say these are 1/2 decent.

My Cyclone failed 2 days ago, so I went to the big box store for a replacement. No stock of the cyclone, but they did have the Lasko 20" plain jane box fan which I did purchase and brought home. It is not nearly so versatile, plus, on a wood floor, the unit walks itself counter clockwise and does not stay where you want it. I am very tempted to open it up and see if the motor in the new box fan could serve as a replacement in my failed cyclone motor.

I love these, I have I think 3 of them used to have more but I donated them to friends and family, I still find them second hand everywhere so they’re not very uncommon just not as popular as the newer blue blade model we all know because of that droning sound. Which leads me to my biggest question is since it’s essentially the same as the newer one how is it so quiet in comparison? Less air resistance? More opened space inside? No clue but they seem to be quieter and more powerful than the blue blade ones. These are all I use now and the blue blade ones are the donors lol.
